Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, Yesterday, the House of Representatives approved the Inflation Reduction Act, historic legislation to lower everyday costs for American families, create millions of good-paying jobs, and deliver the most significant action on climate—all while tackling inflation by lowering the deficit. The package has already passed the Senate and now heads to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law. American families work hard, and they deserve to be able to afford their medicines and raise their children in a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment. This bill helps them do that—it makes health care more affordable, tackles climate change, creates new, good-paying jobs, and brings down the costs of medicine and household items for every single American. I'm proud this will also include a measure to cap the cost of insulin, a policy I've continued to fight for. I am thrilled that this package will soon become law, proud that it includes a measure I've fought for to lower the cost of insulin, and I thank my colleagues in Congress and President Biden for their steadfast commitment to delivering results for the American people. As the school year is now underway for students in Cobb, DeKalb, and Fulton counties, I want to encourage our young people to get involved in science and technology opportunities. My office is holding its fourth annual Congressional App Challenge, and I am proud to announce that the competition is now open for students to register. For more information, visit my website by clicking here. The deadline to register is November 1st! For high school seniors who are interested in attending a U.S. military service academy, I want to remind them that the deadline for applications is fast approaching. Applications and reference letters must be submitted to my office no later than 11:59PM on Sunday, October 16th. For more information, visit mcbath.house.gov/military-academy-nominations.
