John, the data is clear: Community-based organizations are a proven way to prevent gun violence.
Across the United States, they're implementing promising strategies like street outreach, hospital-based violence interventions, and youth development and counseling.
That's why since 2019, the Everytown Community Safety Fund has granted $7.15 million in support to 72 community-based violence intervention organizations in more than 57 American cities—and just this week announced that it will be awarding $1.5 million in new funding to 15 community-based violence intervention organizations.
In cities across the country, community-based organizations and violence interrupters—many of whom are themselves survivors of gun violence—work tirelessly and often take risks to help their communities. Yet they often shoulder much of the burden without support from the elected leaders who are supposed to represent them.
Our communities deserve better. When our lawmakers support dangerous policies that make it harder for communities to prevent gun violence in their own neighborhoods, we need to vote them out. That's why the Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund is going all out to help elect candidates who will take on the gun lobby's extreme agenda and support policies that will help prevent gun violence.
The 2022 midterm elections will be critical to keeping our Gun Sense Majorities in Congress and kicking out leaders who have failed us on gun safety—and we're counting on your help to secure victory. Help elect candidates who will fight to end gun violence: Donate to the Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund today >>
