The Legislature has two weeks until they wrap up the 2022 session, and four anti-gun bills detailed below are currently eligible to be heard by the full Senate and the Assembly, having passed both the policy and fiscal committees:

AB 1227 – LEVINE/D – This bill has been resurrected a number of times and the most recent amendments make it even more egregious than when it was initially introduced.  Rather than simply slapping an excise tax on the purchase of every gun and box of ammo you buy in California, Assemblyman Levine wants to TAX THE TAX ITSELF.  This means the excise tax will be determined on more than the retail cost of the gun, and will include the “gross receipts on the sale of all firearms, ammunition, and so-called precursor parts."

AB 2552 – McCarty/D - Even though gun shows in California are amongst the most law-abiding and crime-free events in the state, this bill adds needless requirements on promoters and venders.

SB 918 - Portantino/D – In a retaliatory action against the ruling from the US Supreme Court in NYSRPA v Bruen,  this bill complicates the CCW process, makes it more expensive and almost impossible for a CCW holder to travel anywhere without breaking the law.

SB 1384 – Min/D – This bill violates the privacy rights of anyone who enters a gun dealer’s store. Gun store owners will be required to install video and audio surveillance equipment to record everything that happens in the store, even if a visitor purchases something other than firearms - or nothing at all.

The time to take action is now!
