Dear Friend,
This morning, I flew from Dallas to Washington, DC to help make history by passing sweeping legislation to reduce health care and prescription drug costs, lower energy costs and combat climate change.
I proudly voted for the Inflation Reduction Act because it’s a long overdue investment in the middle-class and positions America to lead the world in addressing our biggest problems. This is a big deal.

I spoke on the house floor today about the importance of this legislation.
Watch that speech here. |

The Inflation Reduction Act delivers relief to seniors like my mom, who is a breast cancer survivor and lives on a fixed income as a retired Dallas public school teacher. Congress finally stood up to Big Pharma with this bill, allowing Medicare to negotiate the cost of prescription drugs, capping annual out-of-pocket costs at $2,000 and capping the price of insulin at $35. For too long, we let pharmaceutical companies price gouge our seniors, and this historic legislation changes that.
This legislation also makes the largest investment to fight the climate crisis in our history. It will reduce emissions by 40 percent, lower energy costs and create 9 million jobs by investing in clean energy and helping Texans buy energy-efficient homes, appliances, electric vehicles and more.
We’re already experiencing the effects of extreme weather caused by climate change and I’m so glad that for my sons' futures, and for generations of North Texans to come, we’ve made the biggest commitment ever to tackling this issue.
The Inflation Reduction Act does all this while reducing the deficit and not raising taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 per year.
I was honored to vote for this legislation today, and rest assured, I will always work to represent North Texas, where I was born and raised.
Sincerely,
Colin Allred Member of Congress
