‌ ‌ WEEKLY UPDATE August 12th, 2022 Dear Kansas friends, Thank you for your interest in receiving my newsletter. Please feel free to share this with your friends and family. My Statement After Voting NO on the Inflation Reduction Act I just voted NO on the Democrats' erroneously named Inflation Reduction Act. This massive spending package is nothing more than an attempt by Democrats to push their radical agenda under the guise of lowering inflation. Let's be clear, this legislation spends over $700 billion and does nothing to help bring down the soaring prices that continue to crush hard-working Kansans. At a time when our nation is entering a recession, the "Inflation Reduction Act" will raise taxes on families in every income bracket, make it harder for American job creators to succeed, and spend billions of taxpayer dollars to beef up the IRS and implement Green New Deal policies. It's time Democrats reached across the aisle and worked with Republicans to provide real economic relief to Kansans across our state. My Statement on the FBI Raid of Trump's Home The Department of Justice chose to raid the home of a former president, an action unprecedented in American history, at a time when trust in our institutions is already at an all-time low. No administration is allowed to target political opponents, and no administration is above the law. We The People deserve answers, and I will demand that we get them. Democrats are Targeting Regular Americans with IRS Expansion Democrats want to spend $80 billion to beef up the IRS in Senator Manchin and Schumer's reckless spending package. That's more than 6 times the current annual IRS budget. This bill would unleash 87,000 new IRS agents to target Kansas families and businesses that are already struggling to stay afloat. Americans making less than $75,000 per year will get hit with 710,000 new audits from the IRS thanks to Democrats' new spending package. In the Manchin-Schumer bill, Democrats want to beef up the IRS by hiring 87,000 new agents to target American families and job creators. The number of agents Democrats want to add to the IRS couldn't even fit in Arrowhead Stadium. Congratulating Pitt State Students on a Big Win Congratulations to Sarah and Matthew on their fantastic first-place finishes at the 2022 National Leadership Conference hosted by Phi Beta Lambda. Great job to all the students that participated in this year's competition. You make Pitt State and Kansas proud! Read more HERE Expanding Benefits for Veterans This week the Honoring our PACT Act was signed into law. I was proud to support this legislation in the House that will provide 3.5 million toxic-exposed veterans with the benefits and care they deserve from the VA. I want to thank my fellow Kansan, Senator Moran, for his steadfast leadership on this issue in the Senate. Reckless Spending will Increase Taxes and Inflation Democrats' reckless $433 BILLION Green New Deal spending package would raise taxes on American families in the middle of a recession. Inflation continues to crush Kansas families. The July CPI report shows that inflation rose 8.5% over the past 12 months—a 40-year high. Americans can't afford Democrats' new $700+ billion spending package that, according to UPenn Wharton, would NOT help bring down soaring prices. Biden's Actions are Directly Responsible for the Border Crisis Over 3 million illegal immigrants have tried to cross our southern border since President Biden took office. Here are steps the Biden Administration must take to secure the border: 1. End catch & release 2. Finish the wall 3. Require Remain in Mexico 4. Fully fund ICE & Border Patrol The Biden Administration has officially ended the “Remain in Mexico” policy that helped contain the influx of migrants at the southern border. Ending this successful policy will only encourage more illegal immigration at the border and worsen the humanitarian and national security crisis facing our nation. China is Purchasing American Farmland Communist China currently owns over 350,000 acres of American farmland. The United States should not allow one of our biggest adversaries to be involved in American agriculture. This puts our food security at risk and gives the CCP inroads into our most critical infrastructure. National Purple Heart Day Today we remember and honor America's servicemembers who were wounded or killed while fighting for our nation. The United States is the greatest country on Earth because of the sacrifices our military and their families make to protect and defend our freedom. God bless our Armed Forces.
