For too long, we’ve failed to live up to the promises we’ve made to our service members and veterans, who have sacrificed so much for us. More than 3.5 million Americans have suffered from exposure to toxic substances and burn pits during their service – especially those in Iraq and Afghanistan – and have struggled for decades to navigate the VA’s red tape and receive the care and benefits they need. 

As the representative of the country’s largest military community, I was proud to support the Honoring our PACT Act and attend the official signing ceremony at the White House. This historic, bipartisan bill finally recognizes service-related toxic exposure and delivers relief, health care, and benefits to toxic-exposed veterans.

I’m so grateful that the Honoring our PACT Act benefits are already available! You can apply for them by filing a claim at VA at VA.gov/PACT. And if you need help accessing these benefits, you can reach out to my office at SaraJacobs.House.Gov. 

I was so honored to preside over the House Floor earlier today during the final passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. This bill is a really big deal – for our kids, families, and seniors. It tackles inflation head-on, reduces our deficit, lowers the cost of health care and prescription drugs, and makes the largest ever investment in combating the climate crisis.

Passing this bill is a big deal, and I’m so grateful for all the young people who fought and marched and raised their voices so that we would finally address climate change with the urgency it deserves. I can’t wait for President Biden to sign this bill into law.

Earlier this week, I toured Solar Turbines in Kearny Mesa and saw their innovative work up close. I’m so proud to represent San Diego, a hub for innovation, technology, and renewable energy – and I’m grateful for Solar Turbines’ work in our community and for encouraging the next generation of women in science, technology, engineering, and math through their workforce development programs with CA-53 high schools and colleges.
