Today, I voted yes to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, sending the bill to the President's desk. This legislation will lower the cost of prescription drugs, health insurance and energy costs while fighting inflation, reducing the deficit and making the wealthiest corporations finally pay their fair share.
Every year, like clockwork, seniors on Social Security see their Cost of Living Adjustments, small as they are, eaten up by increases in Medicare Part D premiums. It’s all because Medicare is not allowed by law to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies. This bill begins to put a stop to that foolish policy, and finally being down drug prices.
Our senior citizens, those living on fixed incomes, and working families will all benefit from this legislation. This is the action the American people have been waiting for, and I’m proud to continue delivering for families and communities across Northeast Pennsylvania.
