Dear John,

You may have heard of facial recognition technology which some people use to unlock their iPhone, tag their friends in a Facebook post, or to go through airport security.

But did you know that there are few federal regulations on the use of this powerful technology?

While facial recognition technology is a valuable tool for law enforcement to protect public safety, if used improperly, this technology can become ripe for abuse. Chris is proud to have introduced bipartisan legislation to set clear guidelines on the federal use of this technology that requires law enforcement to go to a judge and get a warrant before conducting surveillance of an individual exceeding 72 hours.

This bill will allow law enforcement to continue keeping us safe without infringing on our fundamental Fourth Amendment privacy rights. But Chris wants to hear from you: How important is personal privacy to you?

Thank you,

Team Coons
