Hi, John, I wanted to take a moment today and share with you why I'm so excited about the Inflation Reduction Act. This bill is a huge investment in two of today's most critical issues: the ongoing climate crisis and our nation's health care. It makes a big change in how Medicare provides prescription drugs for more than 70 million Americans by allowing the government to negotiate prices for the first time. It also continues the Affordable Care Act subsidies, and it makes a down payment on reducing our deficit by 300 billion dollars. All of this combined will reduce costs for the average American household. The Inflation Reduction Act will also be crucial to finding solutions to the climate crisis that work for all Americans. We have weather events that are hitting state after state, year after year, costing our federal government billions of dollars and impacting our daily lives. This bill will provide tax incentives for new clean energy technologies to scale up and help create millions of new, high-quality jobs, provide relief to communities facing high pollution burdens, and so much more. Now that the Inflation Reduction Act has passed in the House, I am ready to continue focusing on finding solutions to issues important to Americans.
