John,
The House just passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)! This historic legislation is completely thanks to your activism and hard work―never giving up on a package that delivers on long-held goals.
The IRA is a major defeat to Big Pharma and a win for the American people―allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, capping out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for Medicare recipients, and penalizing pharmaceutical corporations for raising Medicare drug prices faster than inflation.
The new law also extends Affordable Care Act subsidies for 13 million Americans―preventing insurance premiums from skyrocketing at the end of this year, and keeping millions of people on their health insurance.
It addresses the climate crisis by lowering carbon emissions while also cutting energy bills for millions of households, targeting aid to low-income communities, disproportionately communities of color, and creating millions of renewable energy jobs.
The IRA takes big steps toward unrigging our economy―providing the IRS with the tools it needs to crack down on wealthy tax cheats while also ensuring billion-dollar corporations pay more of their fair share in taxes.
There is much more unfinished business. With your help, we will keep up the fight for investments in child care, affordable housing, supports for families with children, and home care for the aging and people with disabilities. We will be vigilant to make sure the funds approved in the Inflation Reduction Act go to the communities that need them the most.
Let’s make sure this first defeat for Big Pharma and Big Business isn’t the last! Chip in today to defend this new law from their attacks and keep fighting for the human needs of millions of people and our planet.

This historic win is thanks to your relentless pressure, demanding Congress put the needs of people over big corporate interests. We never stopped fighting, even when the media said that President Biden’s tax and investment package was dead.
We never stopped fighting in the face of Big Pharma and Wall Street lobbyist pressure, which seemingly sunk the bill multiple times.
This victory is thanks to you and your support.
Thank you for never giving up.
