Hi,
Today, I wanted to take a moment to share my story about why I’m running with you and why this campaign means so much to me. If you don’t have time to read on, I hope you’ll consider making a $3 donation to my Democratic campaign »
I was born in Peoria, Illinois.
My grandpa was a union painter, and my grandma was a public-school teacher. They built honest, middle-class lives with those jobs.
Because of them, I’ve spent my entire career on issues that support working people instead of big corporations.
↑ That’s me!
One of my proudest accomplishments was helping lead the fight to pass a $15 minimum wage in our state.
I’ve traveled the country fighting to get hardworking people the pay and workplace safety conditions they deserve, and I’ve seen firsthand the challenges that today’s working families face.
And for far too long, I’ve witnessed the middle class life afforded by my grandparents slip away for countless Illinois families.
That’s why I worked for the labor movement and why I’m running–to fight for working families and to make sure that the voices of Central and Southern Illinois are heard in Washington.
But this is shaping up to be the fight of my life, and I need all hands on deck right now. This is already one of the top most competitive swing-districts in the entire country, so if you’re with me, can you chip in a $3 donation right now? I’m counting on your grassroots support to help me take this fight to Washington »
