Folks, NBC News recently interviewed Future Forum Frontliner Rep. Katie Porter and her Republican opponent, Scott Baugh – and team, the contrast could not be clearer. While Rep. Porter proudly voted to codify federal protections for legal abortion, Baugh dismissed a woman’s right to safe and legal abortion by simply saying “I would never support that.” And while Rep. Porter recognizes the threat an ultra-conservative Supreme Court poses to same-sex marriage, Baugh dismissed marriage equality, instead suggesting "social arrangements or social contracts and all that." Team, the right choice for California’s 47th Congressional District could not be clearer. American rights are under constant attack from the far-right, and we need champions like Katie protecting what many have given up so much for. Scott Baugh is just another extremist pawn disregarding a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions, and who doesn’t see that when two people are in love, it’s more than just a “social arrangement.” If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Here’s Katie Porter on why she voted to protect the right to safe and legal abortion and same sex marriage: “I think Orange County values things like freedom and respect for others. And that means leaving it up to individual people to make their own choice to love who they want to love, to make their own decision about when and if to start a family, including whether to have an abortion,” she said. “And we value safety.”
