This Sunday, Florida Governor and prominent MAGA figure, Ron DeSantis, will be visiting southeastern New Mexico in an attempt to raise his national profile and bolster NM GOP candidates who share similar extremist views– more specifically, Mark Ronchetti and Yvette Herrell. Of course, aspiring to be MAGA darlings themselves, Ronchetti and Herrell are expected to jump at the opportunity to rub shoulders with the radical DeSantis– and we should all be alarmed. 

From his gross mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic, which cost the lives of more Americans than in any other state, to his anti-abortion and homophobic rhetoric and legislation, Ron DeSantis is the epitome of a complete failure in governance. With Ronchetti’s extreme views on abortion and Herrell’s dangerous promotion of Ivermectin (horse dewormer) as an effective Covid treatment, it comes as no surprise that they would have the utmost adminartion for the Florida Republican.

This is why Democrats need to take action. Like any other virus, the MAGA platform is spreading fast and has the potential to carry severe consequences for all New Mexicans. We cannot allow the ideas of DeSantis, like his “Don’t Say Gay Bill”, to infect New Mexico. We need your help to make sure we don’t let New Mexico fall into the wrong hands.
