------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your continued support of Campaign for Accountability. We're dedicated to continue working to hold the powerful accountable.

This week:
* Facebook Profits from White Supremacist Groups: On Wednesday—just days before the 5-year anniversary of the white supremacist terrorist attack in Charlottesville, Virginia—CfA's Tech Transparency Project (TTP) released a report ([link removed]) revealing that Facebook is still failing to remove white supremacist groups, auto-generating some Pages for hate groups itself, and often profiting from searches for them on its platform.
+ Even more disturbing: TTP discovered ([link removed]) that Facebook searches for some groups with “Ku Klux Klan” in their name generated ads for Black churches, highlighting minority institutions to a user searching for white supremacist content.
+ The Washington Post ([link removed]) covered the report as an exclusive on Wednesday morning, and TTP's findings were later covered by Politico ([link removed]) , The Hill ([link removed]) , The Verge ([link removed]) , USA Today ([link removed]) , and others.
+ Although Facebook told The Washington Post that it "immediately began resolving an issue where ads were appearing in searches for terms related to banned organizations," TTP still found examples ([link removed]) of Black churches showing up in KKK-related searches following the report's release.
+ In light of the report, civil rights advocacy organization Color of Change launched a petition ([link removed]) demanding Facebook stop the monetization of hateful searches, end the auto-generate Pages feature, commit to the full removal of hate groups, and take responsibility for current and past harms.
