Gov. Kelly Caught Lying about Economic Recovery

(TOPEKA, Kan.) – Democrat Laura Kelly lied about her economic record again ([link removed]) on Thursday. A report last night from KSNT ([link removed]) outlined Kelly has been running around the state celebrating Kansas' record employment levels, but the reality just doesn't line up with her stump speech.
* Kelly claims her administration has created 48,000 jobs, but according to KSNT ([link removed]) , that number is based on companies receiving commerce incentives, many of which are future positions that don't actually exist yet.
* KSNT also reported the number of jobs in Kansas is still actually 20,000 LESS than in January 2019 before Kelly's pandemic shutdowns.
* Kelly recently signed a $4 billion tax incentive package with Panasonic that promised up to 4,000 new jobs, but reports from the Kansas City Star ([link removed]) highlighted that there is actually no guarantee in the deal for even 1 job.

“Attorney General Derek Schmidt has said it best: Democrat Laura Kelly spent three years accomplishing absolutely nothing as governor and in many ways setting Kansas back," said Shannon Pahls, KSGOP Executive Director. "Kelly is using bad deals with no guarantees and smoke and mirrors from her Department of Commerce to paint a blatantly false economic picture for Kansas voters in the hopes they won't notice just how poorly she's managed the state throughout her term."
