Friend,
Yesterday, I traveled to Granger for the funeral service of U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski, an incredible public servant, and my dear friend.
Last week, Jackie, two of her staff, Zachary Potts and Emma Thomson, and Edith Schmucker, tragically passed away. Jackie loved Hoosiers and devoted her life in service to them. I'll never forget her spirit, her positive attitude, and most importantly her friendship.
Jackie lived an extraordinary life full of integrity, commitment to service, and a passion for fighting for Hoosiers.
Born and raised in South Bend, she worked as a television reporter, for numerous non-profits, and as a missionary in Romania before serving in the Statehouse and Congress. Her lifelong dedication to service, especially on behalf of our veterans, law enforcement, and children in need was remarkable.
It's hard to believe she's no longer with us. Her passing leaves Indiana, and our nation, with an irreplaceable gap.
She knew how to light up a room. Her presence would brighten any conversation and her words would always find a way to bring people together.
I relied on Jackie over the years for support and encouragement. She was more than just a colleague, she was a true friend.
Hoosiers across the state of Indiana have been impacted by Jackie. She was a presence and an example, and I'm proud to have known her.
Please join me in prayer for Jackie Walorski, Zachary Potts, Emma Thomson, Edith Schmucker, and their family and friends who are mourning them.
Yours in service,
Todd Young
