Terrible Trump History

Periodically, the researchers at Never Again PAC will be sending reminders of how close our democracy came to failing. We call this series "This Day in Terrible Trump History," and each one will highlight an event we should never forget and never allow to happen again. Today, we wanted to take a look at not just one day of Trump-induced shame but at the early days of his relationship with international war criminal Vladimir Putin.

Trump condemns hatred "on many sides" in Charlottesville white nationalist protest

Five years ago today, Donald Trump refused to condemn white nationalists and let everyone know that he fully condoned white supremacy. While it was very clear to the rest of the world that the fanatical white men carrying tiki torches and spouting racist and anti-Semitic slogans like You will not replace us and The south will rise again were inciting the violence, Donald Trump chose to stand by those very individuals. In his comments later that night, he would blame both sides for the violence without condemning the bluntly violent and racist group that began the rally. Later on that week, Trump went a step further and stated that there were very fine people on both sides.
