Little Leaguer Beaned by Pitch Comforts Distraught Pitcher

By: Bruce Hausknecht

The legendary major league baseball Hall of Famer, Henry “Hank” Aaron, once said, “In playing ball, and in life, a person occasionally gets the opportunity to do something great. When that time comes, only two things matter: being prepared to seize the moment and having the courage to take your best swing.”

If that sentiment is accurate – and few would dispute it – then two Little League competitors in a tournament game in Waco, Texas, recently lived up to Aaron’s observation by seizing an opportunity to teach the world how to treat one another in difficult circumstances.

Over 80 Years Ago, Mount Rushmore’s Sculptor Warned About Woke and Cancel Culture Mob

By: Paul Batura

Known as the “Shrine of Democracy,” the 60-foot-tall carvings of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln on Mount Rushmore in South Dakota’s Black Hills were completed in 1941 – long before the rise of cancel culture.

Yet, would it surprise you that the man responsible for creating the majestic monument foresaw the push to erase our nation’s history – even going so far as to warn against the onslaught by making it difficult, if not impossible, to ignore his beloved country’s heritage?

His name was John Gutzon de la Mothe Borglum – better known as Gutzon Borglum. Like many people in history, he was complicated – and controversial. A revolutionary sculptor who presided over the colossal South Dakota construction project beginning in 1927 until his death in 1941 at the age of 74, Borglum’s life and career were unconventional, and on many levels.

The son of a Danish Mormon bigamist, Borglum was born in Idaho, raised most of his childhood in Nebraska, moved to California at age sixteen, and was professionally trained in Europe.

Early in his career, he accepted commissions to carve statues of Jesus’ apostles, as well as angels for the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City.

Post-Roe: Indiana Bans Most Abortions, Provides Support for Mothers and Infants

By: Jeff Johnston

Indiana became the first state in a post-Roe world to ban nearly all abortions, after Governor Eric Holcomb signed Senate Bill 1 (SB 1). He also signed a companion measure, SB 2, which helps families, provides funds for adoption, and offers support for mothers and infants.

SB 1 makes performing an abortion illegal in the state, except in the case of rape or incest, when a fetus is diagnosed with a lethal fetal anomaly, or to save the life of the mother. The new law also terminates the licensure of abortion clinics.

The legislation passed the Senate in a special session by a vote of 28 to 19, just hours after the House advanced an amended version of the bill by a vote of 62 to 38. The law takes effect September 15.

In a press release, the governor said: “Following the overturning of Roe, I stated clearly that I would be willing to support legislation that made progress in protecting life. In my view, SEA 1 [Senate Enrolled Act 1] accomplishes this goal following its passage in both chambers of the Indiana General Assembly with a solid majority of support.”

Focus on the Family President Jim Daly told the Daily Citizen: “The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is the most important legal ruling of our lifetime, and it allowed Indiana to pass this abortion ban and protect most preborn infants in the state. We’re praying and working so that more states will follow suit.”

Inflation Reduction Act Misnamed, According to Experts. What it Means for Families.

By: Bruce Hausknecht

The slimmed down version of President Biden’s $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Act known as the Inflation Reduction Act, passed the Senate over the weekend along strict party lines.

Not surprisingly, reaction to the bill’s passage was partisan in nature.

“Today, Senate Democrats sided with American families over special interests, voting to lower the cost of prescription drugs, health insurance, and everyday energy costs and reduce the deficit, while making the wealthiest corporations finally pay their fair share,” Biden said in a White House press statement.

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., who is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, told Fox News Digital, “The only way the Inflation Reduction Act will decrease inflation is by raising taxes on middle-income and lower-income families so that they don’t have money to spend,” he said. “In health care, we call that killing the patient to heal the disease. It is not how to treat American taxpayers. So, what’s really in it – and what impact will it have on families?

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the bill will have “a negligible effect on inflation” in 2022, and somewhere between a 0.1 percentage point lower and a 0.1 percentage point higher effect in 2023. Another non-partisan group, the Penn Wharton Budget Model from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, says the bill’s impact on inflation is “statistically indistinguishable from zero.”

Administration Looking to Use Taxpayer Dollars to Fund Abortions for Minor Illegal Immigrants

By: Zachary Mettler

According to recent news reports, the Biden administration is looking for ways to ensure that minor pregnant illegal immigrants can receive federally funded abortions.

The move comes after the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.

Reuters has reported that “Biden officials are exploring ways to provide abortion access for pregnant women and girls in U.S. immigration custody in states with bans.”

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently confirmed to CNN that following the Dobbs decision, the agency “will continue to comply with federal law and abide by current detention standards which ensure that pregnant detainees in custody have access to pregnancy services.”

These services include “routine and/or specialized prenatal care, pregnancy testing, comprehensive counseling and assistance, postpartum follow up, lactation services and abortion services” (emphasis added).

Last month, 22 pro-life Congressmen authored a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra demanding the Biden administration stop transporting illegal immigrants to receive abortions.

“Your departments must immediately cease transporting illegal aliens to have abortions,” the lawmakers wrote to the two Cabinet officials.
