Hi JOHN,
Congress is on the brink of passing the most significant climate legislation we have ever seen. The Inflation Reduction Act is a critical step in confronting climate change and boosting our clean energy economy. It is no secret that climate change is impacting our communities, from eroding shorelines to hotter summers. We must do everything we can to reverse its effects for the sake of our community’s health and economy.
I will bring the success stories of our state to Congress. We are home to the first offshore wind farm ever in the United States. And the University of Rhode Island is home to one of the top oceanography institutions in the country. The list goes on from there.
But there is still more work to be done to address climate change. We must also prioritize making the transition to clean energy affordable and accessible so that all communities may benefit from a public health and economic perspective.
My top three priorities for Rhode Island are:
- Protecting our state’s natural beauty and biodiversity
We must do all we can to protect Rhode Island’s natural beauty and biodiversity. Bodies of water such as Narragansett Bay and the Scituate Reservoir and their many tributaries and streams are among our state’s most valuable natural assets. - Investing in Blue Economy initiatives
We need to move the needle on a sustainable blue economy. Investing in blue economy initiatives would bolster climate resiliency and create good jobs. - Ending reliance on fossil fuels
We are behind on ending our reliance on fossil fuels. We must move swiftly toward expanding our wind and solar capacity.
Please consider donating to my campaign today so we can bring this agenda to Washington, D.C.
Thank you for your support,
Joy
