John, abortion was on the ballot in Kansas last week. The first time voters had an opportunity to respond to the Supreme Court’s extreme decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. And abortion rights won by dougle digits.
Even in a state that voted for Donald Trump, abortion rights were the clear winner. Even as right-wing conservatives ran the ballot measure thinking they could undo abortion rights in Kansas, abortion rights won. And voter turnout was huge.
We can see the fight for abortion rights is motivating voters, and we must ensure we harness that energy to bring folks out to vote for Democrats in the midterms.
The people of Kansas sent a very clear message: Abortion rights are human rights. And you can bet the people of this country are ready to send the same message in November.
We know access to abortion care shouldn’t be determined by the state you live in. That’s why it’s critical we build the support we need in the Senate to bypass the filibuster and protect abortion rights. We know the Senate can get things done, and it absolutely should prioritize abortion rights.
When politicians and extreme judges try to control our health care choices, we all suffer. And the overwhelming majority of people in this country support abortion rights. Let’s make sure we build on that support in November and take action to protect abortion access.
