Game Changer candidate Erick Russell won his primary for Connecticut state Treasurer and is on track to become the first Black out LGBTQ candidate elected to any statewide office [[link removed]] in U.S. history. He won with an overwhelming majority against his opponents. Russell thanked voters for choosing him in the primaries and emphasized the importance of representation [[link removed]] .
Another Game Changer candidate, Becca Balint , won her primary for the U.S. Congress! Balint is set to become the first woman and first LGBTQ member of Congress from Vermont [[link removed]] when she wins in November. She is gearing up to fight anti-LGBTQ legislators and to protect our democracy against the rise of authoritarianism [[link removed]] .
Senior Director of Outreach and Engagement Marty Rouse traveled up to the Green Mountain state to assist Becca, Game Changer candidate Mike Pieciak, running for Vermont state Treasurer, and more Vermont candidates with GOTV in the final days of their campaigns!

2. History in the Making: Minnesota’s Future LGBTQ Leaders
We have so many primary winners so far this election season, but two Spotlight candidates Leigh Finke and Erin Maye Quade stole the limelight on primary night [[link removed]] .
Leigh Finke is even closer to becoming the first out trans person elected to the Minnesota’s state legislature! [[link removed]] Leigh emphasized creating “elbow room” at the tables of power [[link removed]] , emphasizing our community’s place at the legislative table.

Earlier this year, Erin Maye Quade made headlines when she went into labor during her convention speech [[link removed]] . Now, she is one step closer to becoming one of the first Black women and one of the first out LGBTQ women ever elected to the Minnesota state Senate [[link removed]] !

Political Manager Michelle Atwood flew to Minnesota for GOTV with Leigh and Erin before their primary wins – Leigh and her team knocked over 600 doors! Michelle also represented Victory Fund at an exciting event organized by state Sen. 3. Homophobic Mailer Targets Game Changer Candidate Eric Sorensen

This week, Game Changer candidate for the U.S. Congress Eric Sorensen faced homophobic attacks against his opponent via mail sent out to voters. 4. Dana Nessel Takes No Chances Against Big Lie Opponent
Game Changer candidate Dana Nessel is going head-to-head with a Big Lie-supporting opponent in the race for Michigan Attorney General this fall. Nessel’s opponent, Matt DePerno, has spread many baseless lies about the 2020 election, but allegedly took part in a conspiracy to illegally gain access from voting machines, damaging some machines in the process [[link removed]] throughout numerous counties in the state. A special prosecutor is being asked to step in to investigate these claims [[link removed]] that were made before DePerno won the nomination and to avoid conflicting interests on Nessel’s part.
