The Inflation Reduction Act Must Pass Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Friday August 12, is the day one of the most significant pieces of legislation of our lifetime will go before the House of Representatives for passage into law. The Inflation Reduction Act is much more than its name and goes far beyond addressing our current, urgent need to combat the inflation caused by a confluence of factors beyond our control.  

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 will:

• Make a historic down payment on deficit reduction to fight inflation
• Invest in domestic energy production and manufacturing
• Reduce carbon emissions by roughly 40 percent by 2030.
• Finally allow Medicare to negotiate for prescription drug prices and extend the expanded Affordable Care Act program for three years, through 2025.

And the bill goes even further, calling for comprehensive permitting reform legislation to be passed before the end of the fiscal year. Permitting reform is essential to unlocking domestic energy and transmission projects, which will

lower costs for consumers and help us meet our long-term emissions goals.

The bill is expected to pass along partisan lines tomorrow, and fortunately, right now we have enough Democrats in the House to make this historic bill a reality. If Catherine were in Congress today, you could be assured there would be no doubt her vote on this bill would be a loud and resounding YES! 

Unlike our current Representative, Mr Bowman, Catherine would have voted:

• YES on Infrastructure to bring the funding our district needs to combat the continued flooding that destroys lives and drains our resources
• YES on aid to Ukraine
• YES to funding our Capitol Police after their bravery and sacrifice during the January 6, 2021 insurrection
• YES on the Abraham Accords to strengthen security for Israel, our only truly democratic ally in the Middle East. 

When elected to Congress, you can count on Catherine's promise that the interests of her constituents will always come first. Her votes will not be political moves to score points with The Squad. They will always support our district, its residents and our futures.
