It’s our birthday! Four years ago, Vote Save America was born. If VSA was a human child, we’d be walking, talking, and solving multivariable calculus problems. (Can you tell none of us have kids?)
It’s been incredible to watch our little initiative grow into a community of leaders devoted and determined to fix the problems they see, instead of letting a crazed minority overrun our country.
You showed up when Vote Save America was an idea and turned it into a force that continues to have a tremendous impact on electing people who will fight for the kind of world we want to live in. Since then, we’ve raised more than 50 million dollars for progresive candidates, organizations, and causes, filled nearly 200,000 volunteer shifts, registered hundreds of thousands of voters, recruited tens of thousands of poll workers, flipped the House, flipped the Senate, and won the White House.
As we head into yet another election/incredibly important pivot point that may determine the future of our very democracy, we wanted to share more about a program that’s going to be a huge part of our future.
Some of you were part of the Vote Save America virtual community in 2020, where volunteers gathered to meet fellow progressives, find additional opportunities to contribute, and learn new skills. The community was not only tremendously impactful, but also (apparently) generated quite a few active group chats that didn’t end when we shut down the community after the Georgia special elections.
Now, the VSA Virtual Community is back and better than ever. This time around, the fun never ends. Organizing to protect our democracy, defend choice, and tackle the climate crisis is a year-round task, and the VSA Community will be too. After a lot of planning, our volunteer community is now ready to keep the work going even after November. Our goal is to be a resource all year long, in even and odd-numbered years (don’t forget, there are No Off Years.) We’ve also got more ways to get involved than ever—join the Social Squad Pod, our Gen Z Working Group or join a phonebank with other volunteers in your state or region.
For the next few months, the theme of the Community is organizing level-up. Together, we’ll be building our skills as organizers and community leaders, and there are two ways to join the Community to get started. You can either join us for a Welcome Call any Wednesday or Thursday or you can attend our Organizing Training Series that begins on August 18th. Sign up for either, and you’ll receive an invitation link to join our Community workspace.
