Friend,

On Sunday, the U.S. Senate officially passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, a bill that will combat the climate crisis, lower health care costs, and make corporations pay their fair share.

With Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote, this legislation passed by a margin of 51–50. Every single Senate Republican voted against the bill, siding with corporate interests. Thanks to the work from activists like you, Senate Democrats are making history and delivering for working families and younger generations.

Here’s what the Inflation Reduction Act will do once signed into law:
  • Make the largest investment in climate action in U.S. history;
  • Put our nation on track to cut 40% of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030;
  • Create 9 million good-paying clean energy jobs;
  • Reduce energy bills for working families across the country;
  • Lower health care premiums and prescription drug costs for million of Americans;
  • Ensure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share

For years, we have been fighting for our government to take action in securing a healthy, habitable planet and find a solution to help boost our economy that will positively impact our generation and generations to come. Thanks to you speaking out and contacting Congress, together we were able to make this moment happen.

But the fight isn’t over yet — now that the Senate passed the bill, the House is expected to vote on the Inflation Reduction Act this Friday. If the House passes the most significant climate bill in U.S history, the bill’s next stop will be President Biden’s desk, where he will sign it into law.

We have made it this far using our courage, voices, and strength to advocate for a better future and holding those accountable that prevent us from seeing real change.

Thank you,
