keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The July NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the July edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. July was a busy month that included everything from recognizing the work of Eagle Scouts to celebrating new investments in our community. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. At the bottom of the page, you can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, Legislator of the Year: I was honored to be recognized by the Great Lakes Maritime Task Force (GLMTF) as their 2022 Legislator of the Year. Here in Northeast Wisconsin, these lakes are crucial to not just our economy, but to our way of life, and it’s critical we do everything we can to preserve these national treasures for generations to come. I look forward to keep fighting for our Great Lakes economy in Congress. Eagle Scouts Soaring High: To kick off the month, a member of my team attended the Eagle Scout ceremony for Collin and Eathan Lund, who were recognized for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout for their commitment to their troop and to their community. Both Collin and Eathan completed their Eagle Scout service projects at the Outagamie County Conservation Club and have bright futures ahead of them. Inspiring the Next Generation of NEW: I had the opportunity to speak at the announcement of the partnership between Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC), the Greater Green Bay Chamber, and global technology company Xometry Inc., to provide scholarships to those pursuing a career in advanced manufacturing. Thanks to this innovative partnership a new generation of Northeast Wisconsinites will have both the skills and the opportunity to enter into careers in manufacturing, and employers will have high-quality applicants to fill the workforce shortage. A New Place in NEW: A member of my team had the opportunity to attend the Howard Commons groundbreaking for a new development that will include an amphitheater, an activity center, a splash pad, and the Gloria and Arnold Schmidt Pavilion. The space is set to open for all Northeast Wisconsinites to enjoy next summer. Surveying the Storm Damage: Earlier this month my team was invited to the Town of Silver Cliff to see the damage from a tornado in late June. While the damage was devastating, the NEW community rallied together and put in hundreds of volunteer hours to clean up the town in just a couple of weeks. The town of Silver Cliff is hosting their community picnic on Saturday, August 14th to raise funds to rebuild their destroyed EMS/Firefighting Building. A Conservation Conversation: A member of my team attended a Conservation Conversation hosted by Peninsula Pride Farms and Door-Kewaunee Demonstration Farms Network at Bryersquart Farm in Forestville. They highlighted innovative conservation practices like planting snap beans into a winter rye cover crop. Music for a Cause: My team also attended the Eagle Scout ceremony for Joseph Lang. As his community service project, Joseph put together a music show with the Peshtigo High School Choir for a local nursing home. Joseph did a great job, and highlights how lucky we are to have such talented kids in our community. Breaking Ground on Georgia-Pacific: Georgia Pacific’s Broadway Mill located in Green Bay recently celebrated their groundbreaking for a $500 million expansion expected to be completed in 2024. My team was thrilled to celebrate the continued investment in the Green Bay and surrounding communities by Georgia Pacific. Other happenings in Northeast Wisconsin last month: ThedaCare Starts Construction on new Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Center in Appleton Peterson, Berk and Cross S.C. celebrated opening of new law offices in Appleton Tech4 Celebrated its 25th Anniversary REMINDER: If you're experiencing issues with a federal agency, my office is here to help.
