House Republicans Promise Border Security
Party unifies behind plan to restore rule of law next year
Help make sure GOP will keep its election promises
Dear John,
From the cover of the House Republicans' plan
With most analysts expecting Republicans to win a majority of the House in this fall's election, the question is: What would they do to put an end to Pres. Biden's open-borders disaster? Unlike the generalized and vague promises GOP leaders have offered in the past, this time they have released a detailed plan, a blueprint of how to restore border security and fight overall illegal immigration.
If the Republicans do take the House, NumbersUSA will be pushing to make sure they keep their election-year promises. . . and fight to pass these plans through the Senate and past the President. Our team of experts already has played important behind-the-scenes roles in the goals that are in the GOP blueprint.
I can't tell you who to vote for, and I wouldn't if I could. I'm asking you to make sure whichever party runs Congress, that they do what's right for the American people and fix America's destroyed immigration enforcement.

We're encouraged to see the support of several Republican leaders who have been weak on immigration enforcement in the past. Perhaps the lawlessness and extremism of current policies have helped them realize just how harmful open borders are. Perhaps they've finally realized that encouraging illegal immigration is not the way to win the political support of legal immigrants and the broader Hispanic and Asian minority communities with large immigrant and first-generation populations.
We still need to put a lot of effort into convincing Democrats that dismantling border controls isn't the issue they should fight tooth and nail to win. The flood of migrants is ruinous for so many traditional Democratic issues; it's bad for American workers, bad for inflation and the economy, and bad for land and other resource conservation.
Right now, the Republican plan is merely a list of their goals (I'll give details below). The actual legislative text will come later. We need the language of the laws to be effective and not to allow the sort of loopholes and bad-faith administrative actions that plague our current laws. That's where our experience and legal expertise come in.
We also need Congress to know we won't accept do-nothing compromises. That's where our army of supporters comes in.
We also need the public to know why we need better immigration laws. We need American voters to know things can improve, and how to make sure they get better.
We need your support to accomplish all of these goals.
Will you help us make sure that Congress will restore law and order, fight for the middle class and preserve for us our nation's fiscal health and national security?

As I said above, here's what the Republican proposals promise to do:
★ Increase penalties for Visa overstays. Many illegal aliens enter America legally, but simply never go home when the visa expires.
★ Enshrine into law the Migrant Protection Protocols, which required people who intended to claim refugee or asylum status to "Remain in Mexico." This policy, which Pres. Trump established and Pres. Biden rescinded, would allow migrants to be removed to Mexico, even if they claim to be asylum-seekers or refugees when they are caught.
★ Fix the Asylum process to efficiently process legitimate asylum applications, prevent fraud abuse, and require aliens to apply for asylum in countries closer to their own homes.
★ Ensure employees use E-Verify. Identity theft hinders the enforcement of already-existing laws that require identification to prove employees can legally take American jobs. E-Verify means businesses have no more excuses for hiring illegal aliens. The Republican plan also aims to keep illegal aliens from receiving taxpayer-funded benefits. These actions will sharply reduce financial incentives to come to America illegally.
★ End parole abuse. The Biden Administration has also subverted laws against hiring illegal aliens and allowing deportation by simply handing out quasi-legal status without congressional authorization.
★ End "catch-and-release." A Clinton-era legal settlement forbids the government from putting children in detention centers with their parents. That means illegal aliens with children are usually released into America very quickly and readily. Fully fund immigration enforcement.
★ Ensure that there are enough Border Patrol agents, ICE officers, judges, investigators, and detention spaces to better enable the enforcement of our laws.
These are all great goals. Our Capitol-Hill staff needs your support to make sure that the laws to implement these goals are effective and free of loopholes or executive discretion which allows them to go unenforced. And we need to empower our army of activists to help those laws get passed by Congress.
Our allies in Congress are going to have to play hardball. They need our members' activism to help them. And we need your support to make sure they get it.
