This past weekend, Senate Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act with Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie breaking vote to lower costs for prescription drugs and health care, confront climate change, and provide commonsense solutions for challenges Americans face.
I was proud to vote for it and grateful for the voters who made this historic legislative achievement possible. But our work doesn’t stop here.

This bill will make the largest-ever Congressional investment to address the threat of climate change, moving our country toward cleaner energy production and reducing carbon emissions by roughly 40% within the decade.
It contains commonsense reforms that will allow Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices and cap out-of-pocket costs. We will protect seniors from outrageous prices charged by pharmaceutical companies for lifesaving medications.
It also provides an additional three years of Affordable Care Act subsidies which will lower health care premiums for millions of Americans.
All of this will occur without increasing taxes on middle and lower-income families and individuals; instead, the biggest corporations will finally pay a fairer share.
Now it’s time to turn our attention to defending our majority and picking up more Democratic seats where we can. With Democratic candidates gaining an edge in several key battleground states, McConnell and his allies have already committed to spending hundreds of millions of dollars on the airwaves to tear down Democrats and take back the majority for the Republican Party.
