I love the phrase “political operatives,” John.

No one knows exactly what that means—but we all have some pretty good ideas.

They live in DC, have fancy degrees and even fancier cars, and they spend their days making policy for people they wouldn’t even acknowledge on the street. ...Because why bother asking what other people think when you already have all the answers?

Whatever else about inside-the-Beltway operatives, it’s clear that they aren’t us. And they don’t want to be.

Being us is hard. We have to pay rent. Put food on the table. Provide for our families. We live in the real world, paycheck to paycheck—a far cry from the cocoon of privileged DC elites.

So I want to know: What gets you excited to vote?

• We deserve leaders who care about people—not corporate profits.

• We deserve leaders who care about school kids and saving lives—not the gun lobby.

• We deserve leaders who care about We the People—not political operatives. 

I ran for Congress last year because I knew DC would benefit from having a few more of us at the table, and I knew we deserved representatives who would fight for us. 

So what motivates me is policies that help all of us get ahead: student-loan cancellation, Medicare for All, and the Green New Deal. And making sure our leaders know what matters, what we care about, and what solutions get us there.

That’s why I’m fighting so hard right now—while we still have time to deliver for working families. Let’s get people to the polls because they are excited about it.
