The overturning of Roe v. Wade by the right-wing justices on the U.S. Supreme Court is a resounding wake-up call for every American.
The Court is making it clear through Justice Clarence Thomas that they have an extreme agenda to gut other rights. Marriage equality, contraception, interracial marriages, privacy, and environmental protections are on the Supreme Court chopping block.
Far-right Republicans now have what they’ve worked toward for over decades: Extremist justices legislating from the bench and ignoring the people’s will.
That’s why my Democratic colleagues and I moved quickly to protect our country from such extremism. Last month, we passed bills safeguarding the right to an abortion, protecting the right to contraception, and codifying same-sex marriage.
Republicans are vowing to stop the progress for which many Americans have fought and died. The right-wing only cares about one thing: Eliminating our rights.
