Jack, MAGA militants are threatening violence and civil war in the aftermath of the FBI's search of Mar-a-Lago—threats that cannot be taken lightly after the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

These militants are not alone in calling for extreme action, either. Republican House Leader Kevin McCarthy—who will likely become speaker of the House if Republicans win the majority this fall—immediately threatened investigations of the FBI, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and the Department of Justice generally if Republicans return to power. Publicly promising to retaliate against political opponents if given the chance brings the stakes of this fall's election into stark relief.

Trump is a direct threat to our democracy—many people can see that. But we can't ignore the threat that the Republican Party more generally poses. Not just Kevin McCarthy and Republicans in Congress, but Trump's hand-picked candidates for secretary of state, attorney general, governor, and state legislature too. We need to be working to crush them all.

Daily Kos has recruited tens of thousands of volunteers for a spate of programs that we know to be successful—and we're just getting started. We're not just recruiting folks for Get Out The Vote actions, like writing postcards to Democratic voters who sometimes stay home on Election Day to ensure they vote, but we're also recruiting polling place workers so that everyone's right to vote is protected. I'm asking you to chip in $5 right now to help us run these programs so that Democrats turn out on Election Day and every vote counts.
