Friend,

Last year we brought your attention to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) expenditure of over $663,000 on Facebook ads attacking Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and other Pro Palestinian politicians which attemped to tie them to “terrorism.”

Since then, AIPAC has doubled down on its strategy of attacking anti-apartheid Democrats and backing thier center-right opponents. This summer in Democratic Primaries throughout the country AIPAC their strategy was on full display and it yielded the pro-apartheid lobby some significant wins.

In Michigan’s Democratic primaries earlier this month, AIPAC spent over $8 million on a suffesful bid to unseat Pro-Palestinian champion Congress Rep. Andy Levin and a failed attempt to unseat Rep. Rashida Talib.

Why did AIPAC target Representive Levin? Speaking on this, Levin stated, “AIPAC can’t stand the idea that I am the clearest, strongest Jewish voice in Congress standing for a simple proposition: that there is no way to have a secure, democratic homeland for the Jewish people unless we achieve the political and human rights of the Palestinian people.”

In addition to AIPAC, a new pro-Israel organization came on to the scene this primary season, Urban Empowerment Action (UEA). The organization put themselves on the map this summer when they spent over 700k in a failed bid to unseat Congresswoan Rashida Tlaib, one of the most vocal supporters of Palestine in the house of representatives. Despite their failure to unseat Tlaib there rise is no less concerning.

UEA casts a light on how easy it is for right-wing supporters of Israel to co-opt the language of progressivism and empowerment.

UEA is largely funded by hedge fund billionaire Daniel Loeb, who like many of AIPAC’s financial backers has a history of funding some of the most GOP most extreme members. Ironically, UEA’s mission statements claims that UEA was founded to “...ultimately help eliminate the wealth, income and opportunity gap between Black and white Americans.” and makes no mention of their focus on Israel.

Just this March, Loeb gave $250,000 to the GOP–aligned Congressional Leadership Fund, $250,000 to the similarly aligned Senate Leadership Fund, and personally contributed to election deniers and Pro-Trump Republicans Sen. John Thune, R-S.D.; Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker; and Ohio Senate candidate Jane Timken.

UEA and AIPAC arent done, and show no signs of stopping with their MAGA Republican takedown of Pro-Palestinian members of Congress. It’s clear now more than ever that they will continue to use the language of empowerment and progressivism as a weapon against all who stand in the way of the right-wing ethnostate of Israel.

We can't afford to lose Palestinian champions in the house because of MAGA Billionaires. Can we count on you to pitch in whatever you can to help us fight back against AIPAC and UEA?
