Friend,

If you’ve been reading our emails, then you already know that the Inflation Reduction Act is nearly across the finish line. This historic investment in fighting the impacts of climate change has already passed the U.S. Senate and will be voted on in the House as soon as tomorrow.

The Inflation Reduction Act is the strongest action the federal government has ever taken to address climate change, but there is still a lot of work to be done, especially at the state level. That’s why I’m writing to you today—we are working alongside our partners to ensure that Oregon continues its transition toward a just and equitable climate future. Will you make a donation today to help? Your donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. [DONATE: [link removed]]

Passing this landmark legislation would be a huge milestone in the fight for climate action. It will put the U.S. on track to cut carbon emissions by up to 40% by 2030 by investing in clean, renewable energy and creating millions of jobs in the process. Oregon should be proud of the role that our state played in its passage through the Senate. Senators Wyden and Merkley have been champions of the bill and have shown Oregon to be a leader in the fight for climate action.

We should also be proud of all of the work that OLCV volunteers and staff have done to get this bill across the finish line. Our volunteers have written Letters to the Editor and op-eds urging our elected leaders to pass the bill. We hosted six virtual town hall events with Senators Wyden and Merkley and Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici, drawing as many as 300 attendees at a time. Our members took action—sending over 3,000 emails to Oregon’s congressional delegation.

All of this incredible work on behalf of OLCV volunteers and staff has had a huge impact. As we prepare for the next steps—implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act and continuing to push Oregon forward—will you make a donation to help? We’ve come so far but we’ve still got a lot of work ahead of us, and we need your help to do it. [DONATE: [link removed]]

Thanks for all you do.

Sincerely,
April Christenson
OLCV Development Director
