Dear John,
My name is David Garbett and I wanted to share this story about my connection to the environment and our air quality, that has really pushed me to run to be the next mayor of Salt Lake City. [[link removed]]
Last December, during a bad inversion, my oldest daughter became very sick. My wife took her to InstaCare. Shortly after, she texted me this photo of my daughter connected to a face mask and breathing tube. The doctors were worried that the bad air had damaged her lungs.

I’ve spent the majority of my career advocating for the protection of our environment - I was an attorney with the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) for ten years [[link removed]] - but I will tell you that nothing brings home the necessity of cleaning our air more than realizing we are placing our loved ones at risk of life-long health impacts by living here.
This is why I’m running for mayor. [[link removed]]
I’ve heard politicians talk about the importance of clean air for most of my life but the issue persists. I believe we need bold and energetic leadership that will use all the tools in the tool box to address the issue.
I have the most aggressive plan for cleaning our air and our environment, [[link removed]] but I need the help of community members like you. Can I get your support in this upcoming election? Volunteer or donate on my campaign if you want better air [[link removed]] !

Thank you for your time and consideration,
David Garbett
