Skagit County Transfer Station Closure Notice
Effective immediately, the Skagit County Transfer & Recycling Station at 14104 Ovenell Road, Mount Vernon, WA, is closed to all self-haulers of garbage with a probable reopening of Monday, August 15, 2022. This will allow the transfer station to use their remaining capacity to service the commercial haulers which include Waste Management, City of Mount Vernon, City of Sedro-Woolley, and the City of Anacortes.
"We regret to close to self-haulers, but it is important that we service our commercial haulers so they can continue to provide service throughout Skagit County," says Margo Gillaspy, Solid Waste Division Manager.
The transfer station is still open to recycling, appliances, household hazardous waste drop-off. Normal hours of operation for garbage, recycling, appliances drop-off: Monday through Sunday, 8:30 AM - 6 PM. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at the Skagit County Transfer & Recycling Station is open Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 4 PM.
Sauk Transfer Site and the Clear Lake Compactor Site remain open for normal operations this weekend, August 13 and 14. Both of these sites accept household garbage; they do not accept demolition debris. Contact Sauk and Clear Lake sites for more information:
Self-haulers to the Transfer & Recycling Station should call 360-416-1570 for a message on status of operations prior to heading out. The Skagit County website and County social media will also be updated to reflect current status.
