FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Skagit County Transfer Station Closure Notice
The Skagit County Transfer & Recycling Station at 14104 Ovenell Road will close to garbage drop-off by self-haulers on Friday, August 12, with plans to reopen to self-haulers on Monday, August 15, 2022. The station is managing temporary capacity issues for waste storage.
?Due to an equipment break-down at the rail yard and the continued lack of rail cars provided to us by the railroad, we have completely run out room at our transfer station. Unfortunately, we have nowhere else to put any more garbage? says Margo Gillaspy, Solid Waste Division Manager for Skagit County. ?We apologize for the closure and are working with our contractor and the railroad to get the equipment we need and to reopen as soon as is safely possible.?
Skagit County solid waste staff asks that customers hold on to their garbage until the transfer station reopens. Skagit County anticipates the transfer station will remain open through the end of the day on Thursday; it may need to close earlier if it reaches capacity.
Self-haulers should call 360-416-1570 for a message on status of operations prior to heading to the Transfer & Recycling Station.?The Skagit County website and County social media will also be updated to reflect current status.
