As the only Black woman representing New York in Congress, I know that my role not just as an advocate but as a necessary voice for marginalized communities is an essential part of getting progressive legislation passed in Washington.

Especially now in a time of rising white supremacy and attacks on immigrants, women, and workers, I’m well aware that my role in Congress is to continue amplifying the voices of the silenced people.

The voices of families who worry about whether their children will have a better life than they had with the ballooning cost of education. Young people who have been cut out entirely from our economy thanks to rising costs and an oppressive housing market, and workers whose stagnant wages aren’t keeping up with inflation.

Our fight is beyond just keeping the House blue. It’s about ensuring that while we have it – we’re doing what’s best for the people who need us most.

That’s why I’m so proud of my work getting legislation passed even given the culture of divisiveness and GOP extremism.

I’ve sponsored bills for affordable housing, expanded access to health care, taken lead pipes out of schools, and addressed racial disparities in health and medicine.

I have a track record for getting legislation PASSED because I know that to build the better future we see for ourselves, we need to dream big and act small. From Medicare for All to addressing loopholes in employer health insurance, from the Green New Deal to the GREEN Communications Act, we must tackle these issues on all fronts.

If you’re with me, consider making a monthly contribution to my re-election campaign. Even $5 each month will give my team and me the resources we need to invest not just in this campaign, but in hosting community events and more.

If I’m going to be your voice, I first need to listen, and that’s why having a campaign with resources to be out in our communities means so much to me. Together, we can ensure we’re continuing to pass legislation that has a real impact on our most vulnerable communities.

Thank you,

Yvette
