John,

As you may know, Ohio Republicans have enacted legislation that outlaws abortion as early as six weeks into pregnancy, before many women are aware that they are pregnant. The law often doesn’t include doesn’t include exceptions for rape, incest or fetal anomalies.

Yesterday, we held an event with OBGYNs and other doctors from hospitals all over Northeast Ohio. They told me about how the Ohio law is preventing them not only from doing their jobs, but also tying their hands from giving life saving medical treatments to women all over the state.

Under Ohio law, women that need health care can't get health care. So these doctors are not allowed to give life saving health care due to politics in the exam room. It’s like having a life-saving super power that politicians force you not to use.

The providers I met are angry and want to fight for their patients. They want to save people’s lives, but if they help they face strict legal penalties including possible jail time. These doctors are going home after work and spending hours and hours coordinating for their patients to get treatment out of state.

Sadly, many of these heroic providers are having mental health trauma because they have to tell their patients that they can’t give them the life-saving care they need. Instead of providing the doctors with the ability to give life saving care, the hospitals are telling them to just get counseling and keep working.

We can overturn the barbaric Ohio law and allow care providers to use their expertise to save patients. In Washington, I will prioritize codifying abortion protections into federal law so the Ohio abortion ban won't apply.

I’m running against Max Miller, a far right figure who holds draconian views towards women’s rights. Here’s Max saying he’s pro-life no matter the circumstances. We can’t let him win this election.

Doctors should be able to save their patients' lives. Can you give $25 or more to help codify abortion protections at the federal level?

Sincerely,
