Hello John!

August is well and truly in motion đź’¨

Here at CC, we just got back from a full week off that we spent resting, recharging, and doing things that we love outside of work. We are back with renewed zeal and excitement for all the amazing things CC has in the pipeline for the rest of the year.

This month marks the second anniversary of CEO Catherine Stihler at Creative Commons. To celebrate the occasion, Catherine penned a reflection on Better Sharing and CC's challenges and opportunities (available on the CC blog). Here is a short excerpt:

Image includes a photo of Catherine Stihler and a quote from the blog posts that reads "Looking forward, as I mark my 2nd anniversary at CC, I see our challenges and opportunities are to recognize and consolidate the impact we’ve made in supporting the growth of the commons, but also to continue that impact in this emerging era of AI, big data, and web3 to effect positive change in our world. We have reshaped the copyright regime in 20 years, becoming the global standard for open content sharing. Now we stand at the cusp of the next 20 years, encountering new places and spaces for dialogue, and championing a new generation of practitioners and advocates, but most importantly, continuing to build a commons of knowledge and culture that is accessible to everyone, everywhere. I look forward to working with you all to make this vision a reality."

We hope you’ll continue to join us in building a commons of knowledge and culture that is accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Sincerely,

The CC Team love_cc

CC still opposes mandatory filtering and so should you

As part of our key strategic goal of Better Sharing, we've taken a firm stance against mandatory content filtering on the internet, as the effects would be devastating to free speech, as well as the sharing of culture and knowledge.
