If you haven't seen the viral video of Beto O'Rourke responding to a Greg-Abbott supporting heckler as he talked about the somber reality of our children murdered by assault rifles...you must.

THANK BETO for saying what must be said, and doing what must be done. Please join us in giving $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford to Beto O'Rourke. Because we can't afford 2023 where he is not Governor of Texas.

If you're exhausted by Democrats too often refusing to hit back, comment or message aggressively against Republicans who lie, cheat, steal, coup, take away our rights and pocket our taxes, it's a reminder of why we need the next generation of fighters in the Democratic Party to take over, and oh my, is Beto O'Rourke one of those.

Beto was speaking about assault rifles, and how they were weapons made for the battlefield--which every sane human including the creator of the assault rifle has acknowledged--the damage they do to little bodies in schools as they were made to pierce helmets of opposing soldiers.

In fetid, disrespectful, and honestly abominable right-wing fashion, as he was talking about children being murdered by assault rifles, he was heckled by a Greg Abbott supporter in the crowd who started laughing.

Laughing at kids dying via assault rifle. Think about that.

Then Beto responded the way we all wish we had, not like some polished politician but a real human with real emotions:

"It may be funny to you motherf***er but it's not funny to me."

I have talked often about how some of our current crop of leaders have done an incredible job, but they don't seem to get the age we're in, of politicians being human and not polished, of Republicans who aren't conservative but somewhere between autocratic and fascist, and how They. Must. Be. Stopped.

Like Stacey Abrams, Katie Porter, Eric Swalwell, Ted Lieu, Ruben Gallego, Nan Whaley, Tim Ryan, John Fetterman, Josh Shapiro, Mandela Barnes, Gretchen Whitmer, Brian Schatz, Chris Murphy and others I don't have space to name, Beto O'Rourke is a leader for this moment.

Imagine waking up the day after election day and Beto O'Rourke has sent that cretinous, corrupt, coup-enabling disaster, Greg Abbott, into political retirement. BETO O'ROURKE IS THE GOVERNOR-ELECT OF TEXAS. Try and imagine it for a second. What it will feel like.
