Dear John,

Like many families around the nation, mine is getting ready to head back to school. As a mother of two, I am making the usual to-do lists: school supplies, lunch lists, after school activity schedules. 

But the headlines are grim; and I worry. 

Will heat days now replace snow days?  

Will our children suffer from the dirty air and toxic water that we thought modern environmental regulation had made a thing of the past?  

Will they grow up in a time of wars over water, access to farmable land, and mass migrations?

But my despair is temporary, I know that we have not lost the fight yet. If we do everything possible right now to ensure this is not the future our children face. I find hope every single day through my work at Ceres.

I know you care deeply about the state of the planet we leave for future generations. 

There are things we can all do right now to help push forward our ambitious agenda. You can help by:  

• Contacting your local lawmakers to advocate for inclusion of climate funds in the Federal budget reconciliation bill; 
• Sharing your thoughts on social media (like Twitter) and tagging your favorite brands. We need every sector, every business large and small, to commit to transforming their business; 
• Reaching out to us ([email protected]) with your suggestions, concerns, and feedback. Hearing from our supporters is essential to framing our work.

This work, and YOUR support give me hope in the face of the headlines. I know that together, we can ensure our children have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and healthy food to eat. Thank you for being part of the solution.
