Dear John

The August newsletter is packed with interesting updates, but we would like to take a moment to highlight one urgent issue for your attention.

The UK is looking to negotiate a new Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with India and is likely to face considerable pressure to water down pesticide standards from the Indian government, which is infamous for lobbying aggressively against protections. UK consumers could face dramatic increases in ‘Highly Hazardous Pesticides’ (HHPs) in food staples if the government rushes through a deal to ‘double trade with India by 2030’. Negotiations are taking place right now. Email your MP and ask them to seek reassurance from the Government that the India trade deal will not be allowed to threaten consumer health or the future of UK farming.

And finally, we'd like to extend an invitation to anyone working or living in London to join us for a drink at one of four local community gardens to find out more about the Pesticide-Free London Campaign. Find full details and a link to book below.
