John – tonight is a very special night for me.

After my Mama Katie passed away, my husband and I, along with my sister and cousins, started taking my Grandpa Lawrence to dinner every Wednesday. He was full of life and humor and he shared that with his granddaughters every chance he had. He never failed to make us laugh, especially the one Christmas he bought every single one of us a trophy that said “Favorite Granddaughter.”

Grandpa Lawrence’s laugh, his stories, and our family time together are memories I’ll cherish forever. I think about them every Wednesday night.

I also think about the lessons that Grandpa Lawrence and Mama Katie taught me at that table – stand up for what you believe in, help others, and above all, family is everything.
