I'm going to get right to the point -- Democrats need to focus on winning back the state legislatures.

Right now, Republicans control the majority of the state legislatures in America. That's the case here in Iowa, where Republicans control the governorship, the State House and the State Senate.

It's the state legislatures that are ground zero for attacks on reproductive rights, voting rights and more. We need to fight back at the local level, John.

In Iowa, there are three Iowa Democrats (including yours truly) who are fighting to keep three legislative seats blue this November. Will you chip in $3 for 3 Iowa Democrats and help us keep these seats blue?

First up, we have State Senator Jackie Smith. Jackie is a proven fighter for working families and our public schools, and she is facing a tough reelection and needs our support. 

Second up, in the Iowa State House, we have Representative Steve Hansen. Steve is one of the best listeners I know – it’s probably why he’s such a great representative for Iowa. He listens to his constituents and then he takes action on their behalf. That’s how it should be! 

And lastly, there’s me. I’m running for Iowa State House District 1 to fix our broken health care system, fight for an economy that works for everyone, and secure a future for Iowa’s children.
