My roots are planted deeply in Georgia's soil. I grew up in public housing on the west side of Savannah, became a proud graduate of Morehouse College, and then went on to preach from Dr. King's pulpit. Today, I walk the halls of Congress as the first Black US senator in Georgia's history. It is one of the greatest honors of my life.
