I have a pretty fun announcement today.
Politics-as-usual isn’t my thing. I’m not really one for grandstanding — I like to get on the ground, learn about the issues impacting people, and work to make a difference.
Over the next few months I’ll be traveling the state, learning about the needs of different communities and talking about my vision for Massachusetts. But since I was a kid, basketball has always helped me learn about others, so we figured — if we're on the road, why not hit the court?
That’s why today, I’m excited to announce the Healey Hoops Tour. At stops on our campaign, I'll be playing basketball with young people and community members. Basketball has a special way of bringing people together, and that’s what our campaign is about. Hopefully we’ll be coming to a stop near you, but no matter where you are, you can follow along on our Twitter, our Facebook, or our Instagram.
When I first ran for office as Attorney General in 2014, not many people knew who I was. We didn’t get a lot of the big endorsements, and my opponent raised a whole lot more money than I did. But I ran an authentic campaign, promising to stand up for everyone in Massachusetts — as the People’s Lawyer — and we won.
Now I’m running for Governor. Just like last time, I’m building a campaign that’s honest to who I am and that stands for everyone in Massachusetts. No matter who you are or where you live, I’ll listen and work for you every day.
I hope we can earn your support.
Catch you on the court,
Maura
