A few months back, we sounded the alarm about Donald Trump’s secret plan to take over the electoral system in key battleground states, so he’ll be able to succeed where he failed in 2020 and overturn any election if he doesn’t like the results.

Well, we learned more about the plan – who’s in on it, where it came from, and how far along it is already – and the news is worse than we thought.

Politico released videos and transcripts of RNC operatives planning to disrupt and overturn elections using what they call “The Precinct Strategy.”

In addition to the plan to install Trump loyalists as Secretaries of State in key swing states that we already told you about, the recordings revealed a plot to:

• Install radical right-wing extremists as poll workers and election inspectors to challenge the validity of votes cast in Democratic precincts on a massive scale
• Place handpicked loyalists in key District Attorney positions to launch bogus investigations of “voter fraud” in response to these preplanned ballot challenges
• Hire thousands of lawyers to bury non-Republican election officials in lawsuits and paperwork
• Build a nationwide network of lawyers, judges and police chiefs loyal to the GOP to make sure Republicans can disrupt ballot counts without consequence.

Election watchdog Nick Penniman summed up “The Precinct Strategy” in an interview with Politico: “Come election day, you create massive failure of certification” in Democratic precincts. “The real hope is that you can throw the choosing of electors to [Republican] state legislatures.”

Meanwhile, Media Matters shared videos first posted to Rumble (a video hosting platform with extremely lax content standards favored by the far-right) exposing the strategy’s origin: A QAnon convention in Las Vegas attended by QAnon influencer Juan O. Savin and failed Congressional candidate Jim Marchant, who teamed up to create the “America First Secretary of State Coalition.”

The Coalition is made up entirely of people running for Secretary of State who believe the Big Lie that Trump won the 2020 presidential election, mainly in battleground states likely to decide the results of the 2024 election.

“We have a project that we are doing helping candidates across the country that we started here in Nevada that has prospered pretty well, with a number of Trump endorsements,” Savin explains in one of the videos.

He said the group’s aim was to “get to the right result; how we are going to coordinate between the different states to get to the right outcome.”

He also said they’re pressuring governors and candidates for governor to name QAnon-affiliated Trump loyalists to top election posts in states where those positions are appointed, not elected.

Folks, all of this is VERY BAD NEWS for our democracy!!!

There are more than 20 of these hardcore Trump loyalists running for Secretary of State in key states across the country, and many of them look to have a decent shot of winning if we don’t act fast to stop them.

Trump has already shown us how far he’s willing to go to grasp and cling to power.

The Jan. 6 Commission has revealed that he was ready to seize voting machines, call in the military, throw away legally-cast ballots, forge false certification documents declaring him the winner, and/or have the Supreme Court overturn the election.

The ONLY reason Trump’s plot failed was because a handful of brave Secretaries of State refused to go along with it. Now, just like his Russian idol Putin, he wants to make them pay – and replace them with handpicked cronies who will do his bidding.

Trump’s handpicked candidates are already proposing sweeping changes to our electoral system, including allowing endless audits, letting partisan state legislatures reject official election results, eliminating vote-by-mail, and more.

The fact is, this is nothing less than a slow-motion coup by Trump and the GQP.

And it’s up to us to try and stop it.
