Friends,

A lawsuit that would repeal the Affordable Care Act and take health care away from thousands of Louisianans has made it further through our court system than many thought possible - with the full support of Louisiana's attorney general, Jeff Landry.

There are 800,000 Louisianans living with preexisting medical conditions. If this lawsuit succeeds, many of them could lose their health care.

This is what happens when politicians are more concerned with scoring political points than solving problems. They criticize from the sidelines and call for the whole system to be thrown out, paying no mind to the people who would be harmed.

But I've learned that an officeholder should do more than criticize. He should work to find solutions for the people he serves. That's why I'm taking steps to protect the Louisianans living with preexisting conditions, as well as many others that could be impacted by this lawsuit. I consider it my duty as Louisiana's governor.

Protecting the well-being of all Louisianans will always be my first priority. But I also feel it's important to know where my supporters stand. Please, answer this question:

Should Louisiana protect health care for people with preexisting conditions?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on such an important issue,

Governor John Bel Edwards
