What has happened: On August 5, the Indian government implemented a communications and military crackdown on Kashmir. Rights such as freedom of speech, assembly and movement have been taken away, and reports of rampant abuse and human rights violations are mounting

What can the United States doAs the Trump Administration emboldens the far right Indian PM Modi, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal has introduced House Resolution 745, which calls for the Indian government to "end the restrictions on communications and mass detentions in Jammu and Kashmir as swiftly as possible and preserve religious freedom for all residents."

What you can do: Click here to contact your representatives, calling for the Kashmir Resolution to be co-sponsored and swiftly passed! This takes only 2 minutes, with over 4,000 letters already sent to Congress from advocates like you. Communicating with your elected officials is the most proactive action Americans can take to usher in change.
