On Sunday evening, the FBI executed a search warrant for part of former president Trump’s residence in Florida. The warrant was approved by a federal judge who Trump himself had appointed, and it was executed by a U.S. Attorney who Trump had appointed as well. The warrant came as a result of months-old events making it clear that Trump probably had presidential records in his possession, and also that he would try to hide or destroy any evidence that could possibly incriminate him.

Despite the completely appropriate nature of this search, as well as the substantive investigations being done by the January 6th committee, and prosecutors in Georgia and in New York, Ken Buck made the choice to smear the FBI and defend a would-be strongman.

We know that Trump wanted to overturn the results of the election, and had no problem getting there with violence. The FBI wasn’t going through Trump's so-called 'paperwork'.

Ken Buck needs to stop working for a failed former President: he should be working for you, me, and the people of this district.

You deserve better than lawmakers like Buck who use their positions as elected officials to embolden criminals, get themselves on TV, and spread irresponsible conspiracy theories.

When I go to Washington, D.C., I will drop the divisiveness. I will work with my colleagues across the aisle on policy that is good for all Americans, no matter how they voted.

I believe that we all deserve clean air and a healthy planet, legal access to reproductive care, and a government that doesn’t interfere with your personal choices.
