The next generation of cars should be built here in Michigan. It’s why I’ve focused on bringing supply chains back from overseas and putting taxpayer money towards American companies – not China.
In the state legislature, my opponent voted *five times* against the bipartisan deal to support 5,000 good-paying auto jobs in mid-Michigan – including a brand new auto plant in Delta Township (which is in his own backyard!).

All told, he has voted to oppose close to $10 billion in private investment into Michigan’s auto industry and over 8,000 Michigan auto jobs. He called the bipartisan agreements that created these jobs “corporate welfare,” without offering any alternative proposal or vision.
Thousands of jobs. Gone.
Securing American supply chains and rebuilding domestic manufacturing has been one of my main priorities in Congress. For the past two years, my work has been dominated by the on-and-off closures of auto plants in my district that can’t get their hands on a 14-cent microchip. It’s why I was such a strong proponent of the CHIPS Act which was recently signed into law. It’s a bipartisan piece of legislation that will provide incentives for companies to manufacture the microchips right here in the U.S. and create tens of thousands of jobs in the industrial Midwest.
